Veröffentlichung des Fotobuchs: Unsettled: Three years documenting Afghans on the move
Donnerstag, 4. Oktober 2018
18 bis 21 Uhr
Afghanistan has been confronted with continuous armed conflict, insecurity, human rights violations and recurrent natural disasters for close to four decades. Movement across borders and internal flight have been familiar coping strategies for many Afghans.
Afghans constitute one of the largest groups of asylum seekers in Europe, however, asylum acceptance rates have been reducing sharply in recent years and more Afghans are forcibly returned. Return conditions remain far from conducive:
a deteriorating security situation, grave human rights violations, troubling political and economic challenges, increasing numbers of internally displaced and abject poverty await the returnees.
The book "Unsettled: Three years documenting Afghans on the move" shows images of Afghans on the migration trail from Afghanistan to Germany. It helps frame a discussion exploring the reasons and challenges for and during displacement and flight, the changing reception environment for Afghan refugees in Europe and the realities confronting returnees in Afghanistan.
